How To Convince My Parents To Have A Dslr Nikon Camera?

So, Christmas is near and I asked my parents if I can have a Nikon D40x camera because it is cheap. Besides, I’m just a teenager and I’m just starting. But I don’t know if they would approve.
P. S I am an honor student and if you told me to be good in your studies, well I am already trying.

Sweetheart … and I offer that as a general term of endearment. It is NOT intended to be offensive, obnoxious, condescending, or sexist … though, I must admit, I have yet to use it to an adult male, apart from my own two grown up sons … I don’t believe there’s any reason for you to be so defensive. There are few of us who would jump down your throat and tell you to be good in your studies though, it does go without saying, that you should do your best, but I’d suggest that you should mention it to your parents. Sorry, I don’t know them or I might have tried for you.
You could help your cause by finding some websites that talk about the Nikon D40X … reviews, etc., and find sites that offer it for sale. This would give them some sort of idea as to how much it’s likely to cost, and they could assess whether or not they feel you’re worth it (I’m sure you are) or whether you’ve been naughty or nice this past year.
You might like to show them what the camera is capable of, and tell them how much more you’ll love them if they get you one. (Maybe a few promises of what you’ll do around the house will help here. lol.)
I’m afraid I’m the other side of the Atlantic ocean to yourself so you may have better luck in finding sites that are specific to America. I have listed a few sites below, though, that might help you put your case together.
I wish you the very best of luck, dear lady.

If you find it cheap, then buy it yourself.
If you are close enough to your parents, ask them as early as now. If your parents believe it is far from cheap, at least, you are giving them ample time to start saving it up for you.
So you’re good with your studies. You must be good at household chores too. Then, you also must be good at following house rules especially those that pertain to time. Remember that the world does not revolve around you. If your parents decline, they have their reasons. Be smart enough to understand and accept that. Find other means then to have your D40 without disobeying your parents and sacrificing your studies.

    1)Photography
If you are going to take a photography class, a digital SLR must be necessary. Point and shoot cameras are full automatic and there are no slight adjustment on focus, exposures and depth of field.
    2) comparison between the pictures of point and shoot cameras and DLSR’s. The size of CCD(imager) is different and DSLs have better image quality and it has artistic point and image quality thing.
    3) Durability and interchangeable lenses
DSLR can change lenses and choose better lenses. DSLR, especially, Nikon’s is more durable.
If the price is reasonable, DSLR is recommended. If you do not care abou the size, there is nothing to tell about weak points.

Tell them you want to learn as much about photography and a DSLR is the only way to go.And for you should they spring for it, learn as much about the camera as you can. Experiment with it. Most times do not leave it on auto, or you’re wasting their money.
